Hypercharge to Bring Bidirectional EV Chargers to Canada via XCharge Partnership

March 26, 2025 by Newsdesk

Vancouver’s Hypercharge Networks is teaming up with XCharge North America to bring advanced EV charging technology to Canada, marking a major step forward for the country’s charging infrastructure.

Through a newly announced strategic partnership, Hypercharge will distribute XCharge NA’s GridLink chargers—bidirectional, battery-integrated fast chargers—to automotive dealerships and commercial customers in British Columbia and Ontario. The move expands XCharge NA’s footprint into Canada while giving Hypercharge access to one of the most innovative charging systems on the market.

“GridLink’s bidirectional, battery-integrated system offers businesses a smarter way to fast EV charging success, eliminating demand charges and avoiding costly grid upgrades,” said Chris Koch, Head of Growth & Partnerships at Hypercharge.

Hypercharge will manage software and customer support, while XCharge NA will oversee preventive hardware maintenance. Hypercharge staff will also receive training and certification to handle corrective maintenance, ensuring long-term performance and support for clients.

As demand for electric vehicles surges across Canada, especially in urban and rural areas without robust charging infrastructure, the flexibility of the GridLink system could prove vital. Each unit offers a base capacity of 215 kilowatt-hours, scalable to 430 kWh, and supports grid integration and renewable energy sources like solar.

“Redefining energy interaction is at the heart of what we do,” said Aatish Patel, cofounder and president of XCharge NA. “Our partnership with Hypercharge is a significant step in furthering that mission… while also addressing the region’s growing demand for EVs.”

The partnership aligns with Canada’s broader efforts to electrify transportation and strengthen energy resiliency—goals that become increasingly urgent as electric adoption accelerates.
