Calgary’s GeologicAI Expands Tech-Forward Mineral Exploration Platform to U.S. Site

November 5, 2025 by Knowlton Thomas

Earlier this year, Calgary-based GeologicAI raised $60 million in a Series B funding round led by Blue Earth Capital to scale its AI-powered mineral exploration platform globally.

Founded in 2013 by Grant Sanden and Yannai Segal, GeologicAI’s platform uses high-resolution sensors and advanced machine learning to scan and analyze drill core in real time.

By delivering faster and more accurate geological insights, the Canadian company helps exploration teams increase efficiency, improve discovery rates, and reduce environmental impact.

And as the discussion around critical minerals loudens in Canada, Geologic’s tech becomes more interesting.

This month, the Alberta cleantech unveiled a strategic partnership with Edge Copper.

The partnership includes advancing Edge’s recently acquired Zonia Copper Project in Arizona.

The Zonia Project is a past-producing copper-oxide SX-EW heap leach operation located approximately 160 miles from Phoenix in Arizona’s historic Walnut Grove mining district.

“Our goal is to help miners like Edge Copper enhance their efficiency and decision-making by combining veteran insight with next-generation tools,” stated Jared Deutsch, President of RMS for GeologicAI.

Due to existing infrastructure and significant expansion potential, the project is a perfect candidate for using GeologicAI’s High Resolution Decision Engineering technology, according to Patrick Redmond, who serves Geologic as President of Resource Exploration Strategies.

“This partnership is a natural extension of our mission to bring high-confidence, highly informed decision-making into the earliest stages of critical mineral discovery,” stated Redmond.

“We are honoured to collaborate with the exceptional team at Edge Copper,” he continued, “enabling us to combine decades of mining experience with cutting-edge AI and modelling tools to drive smarter, faster and low-risk outcomes.”

Edge Copper is planning an exploration campaign with the goal of advancing Zonia to shovel-ready status within four years, according to chief executive officer Gil Clausen.

“There is a growing demand for copper and a clear supply gap,” explains Clausen. “Unlocking high-quality resources more effectively is the key—and we’re excited to help make that happen.”

The Zonia site stands out for its “geological fundamentals and strong upside,” the CEO commented, adding that Edge is “even more enthusiastic and confident thanks to the rich data and robust analysis available to us,” describing GeoLogic’s approach as “truly a smarter way to explore.”
