Nano One Materials recently revealed that it has garnered additional support from Natural Resources Canada.
The Canadian cleantech innovator specializing in cathode active materials for lithium-ion batteries confirmed that it secured another $4.3M through the Energy Innovation Program, which aims to support clean technology across the country.
Since October 2025, Nano One has secured $12.31 million in support from NRCan.
“Nano One is grateful to the Government of Canada for its ongoing support and increased funding,” commented Nano One COO Denis Geoffroy.
Nano One’s patented One-Pot process reduces costs, is easier-to permit, and lowers energy intensity, according to Geoffroy.
The tech is novel enough that the Vancouver-based firm has so far received funding not just from Canada but also from the provincial governments Québec and British Columbia as well as the U.S. Department of Defense, Next Generation Manufacturing Canada, and Technoclimat.
The influx of capital will help Nano One add “agility and precision to the production plant and speed up automotive certification and product traceability” via new software implementation, says Geoffroy.
The firm is advancing product development and commercialization activities at its two facilities in Burnaby and Candiac, Québec, he says.
“This investment strengthens our production and technology licensing offering and supports our path to commercialization,” the COO stated. “It also continues to build long-term shareholder value and reinforces Nano One’s position as a leader in materials processing for Canada.”
More than 60 minerals and metals are produced by over 200 mines across the country, notes Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Claude Guay.
“Projects like this help move new technologies closer to commercialization while reinforcing … Canada’s growing clean technology sector,” remarked Guay, “supporting our country to become a clean energy superpower.”
