Anodyne Chemistries has been named to the 2024 Foresight 50 list, distinguishing it as one of Canada’s most investible cleantech ventures.
This recognition highlights Anodyne’s innovative work in sustainable chemical manufacturing, where the company integrates synthetic biology with electrochemistry to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transform carbon dioxide into valuable products.
Founded in Burnaby, B.C. in 2021, Anodyne has developed engineered enzymes, known as Anozymes™, which harness electricity to convert CO₂ into essential chemicals like formic acid, formaldehyde, and methanol.
Their work includes the EZ-Methanol project, which received a $600,000 investment from the B.C. Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) in June 2023 to support a bio-electric process that generates low-carbon methanol from CO₂ waste.
Anodyne’s innovative approach reached a new milestone in November 2023 with the design of custom de novo enzymes through deep learning-powered AI, quantum chemistry, and molecular modeling. This breakthrough promises to revolutionize chemical feedstocks and enable eco-friendly solutions across industries.
In April 2024, Anodyne closed its seed capital round, further supporting the scale-up of its C-Series product line and the establishment of a multi-product pilot plant. Backed by non-dilutive funding from Natural Products Canada and recognition from the Biomimicry Institute, this funding aims to advance Anodyne’s mission to decarbonize the chemical industry.
Anodyne Chemistries continues to position itself as a leader in the sustainable chemical industry, striving to replace fossil-based methods with bioelectric alternatives for a greener future.
