Calgary’s General Energy Recovery Inc. (GERI) has been named a finalist at the Gulf Energy Information Excellence Awards, placing it alongside some of the world’s top energy solution providers.
GERI is a technology company focused on energy transition, offering advanced solutions for heavy-oil recovery that not only increase oil production but also reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
As the only startup to be shortlisted in the Best Enhanced Oil Recovery Technology category, GERI is competing with industry giants like CNPC, Halliburton, and Saudi Aramco.
GERI’s mission is clear: “Recovering More, Emitting Less.” The company strives to help oil producers achieve the challenging balance of increasing oil recovery, reducing carbon emissions quickly, and maintaining strong financial returns.
Their patented Direct Contact Steam Generation (DCSG) technology is key to this mission. This technology enhances oil recovery with low carbon intensity by co-injecting steam (or hot water) and non-condensable gases (mainly CO2 and N2) into oil reservoirs.
The winners of the Gulf Energy Information Excellence Awards will be announced at a gala event in Houston, Texas, on October 9, 2024.
