AppDirect has acquired DNE Resources, a Montreal-based energy broker and one of Canada’s largest energy management firms, in a strategic move to broaden its footprint across North America’s deregulated energy markets.
The deal follows AppDirect’s recent acquisition of Broker Online Exchange (BOX), the leading retail energy network in the U.S., reinforcing the San Francisco–based company’s ambition to become a one-stop platform for business services sold through advisors and brokers.
DNE, founded in 2009, manages more than $250 million in annual energy spending for commercial and industrial customers. Known for simplifying complex energy procurement for businesses, the firm will now integrate AppDirect’s suite of value-added services, including the BOX My Service Cloud platform.
“This growth opportunity allows us to better serve our customers with expanded solutions that meet their evolving energy needs,” said DNE co-founder and CEO Wayne Burke. “Joining AppDirect means we can now offer a more comprehensive technology and energy strategy, while staying true to our values of transparency and trust.”
AppDirect’s expanded offering now includes energy alongside cloud, telco, mobility, hardware, and AI services—positioning the company as a unified procurement hub amid growing business demand for sustainability and efficiency.
“The energy market is transforming rapidly due to surging AI consumption and sustainability pressures,” said Nicolas Desmarais, AppDirect Chairman and CEO. “With DNE and BOX, we’re giving businesses the tools to navigate that shift with confidence.”
The acquisitions signal AppDirect’s intent to not just sell services but to manage the full lifecycle of business-critical solutions—energy included—in an increasingly connected and carbon-conscious economy.
