HTEC has received national recognition for its commitment to safety and operational excellence, earning the 2025 Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC) & Aviva Fleet Safety Award in the Small Fleet category.
The annual award, presented by the PMTC in partnership with Aviva Canada, celebrates private fleets that go above and beyond National Safety Code requirements to champion best-in-class transportation practices. HTEC was selected for its strong culture of accountability and comprehensive safety protocols that support its growing hydrogen infrastructure across British Columbia.
To date, HTEC’s fleet of four professional drivers—backed by a fleet supervisor and a dedicated safety team—has safely delivered more than 130,000 kilograms of hydrogen to the company’s expanding network of fueling stations, which includes locations in Kelowna, Victoria, and five in the Lower Mainland, including UBC.
“This award reflects the dedication of our team and the strength of our safety-first culture,” said Colin Armstrong, President and CEO of HTEC. “As we grow our hydrogen infrastructure and station network, our priority remains to deliver hydrogen safely and reliably—making it a practical, accessible solution that supports a low-carbon transportation future.”
HTEC’s proactive safety approach includes mandatory onboarding and refresher training aligned with federal and provincial standards, including Transport Canada, CVSE, TDG, and WHMIS. The company also conducts regular field audits, safety policy reviews, and collaborates closely with its health and safety teams to promote continuous improvement.
“At HTEC, every driver receives hands-on training and ongoing support,” added Prabhjot Khabra, Fleet Supervisor. “We reinforce safety through regular Toolbox Talks and an open-door culture that values feedback and transparency.”
HTEC designs, builds, owns, and operates clean hydrogen infrastructure across the province, playing a key role in Canada’s shift toward zero-emission transportation.
