Vancouver-based climate tech startup Properate has launched Stride, a mobile app designed to tackle one of the retrofit industry’s biggest challenges: accurate and efficient heat pump sizing.
Available nationwide, Stride enables HVAC contractors to perform CSA F280-compliant sizing calculations—the Canadian standard for residential heating and cooling load calculations—directly on-site. By combining mobile LiDAR scans, 3D home models, and instant heat load reports, the app delivers faster quotes, reduces costly design errors, and boosts homeowner confidence in electrification upgrades.
“Stride puts the right tools in the hands of field teams, cutting weeks of back-and-forth and empowering HVAC pros to deliver faster, more accurate installations,” said Arman Mottaghi, Properate CEO and building scientist.
The launch comes at a critical moment. With federal and provincial electrification incentives driving heat pump adoption—and demand for clean heating solutions rising sharply—contractors are under pressure to scale without compromising quality. Improper sizing can lead to higher energy bills, inefficient performance, or even ineligibility for rebate programs. Stride addresses these risks by compressing workflows and ensuring consistency in the field.
Properate, founded in 2022, has steadily grown its product suite to support energy efficiency and retrofits. While Properate Maps and Properate Homes help model energy use and plan retrofits, Stride places advanced precision tools directly into the hands of the trades.
With Stride now available to HVAC professionals across Canada, Properate is positioning itself at the centre of Canada’s electrification push—making clean heating upgrades simpler, faster, and more reliable for homeowners nationwide.
