Alberta’s E3 Lithium Advances Operations with Shipping of Battery-Grade Minerals

January 15, 2026 by Knowlton Thomas

E3 Lithium unveiled an “important step” toward commercialization this month.

The Alberta-based lithium development firm says it will deliver battery-grade lithium carbonate produced from its demonstration program to multiple parties as part of engagement with targeted offtake and strategic partners.

The moves build on earlier tests conducted last year, which followed progress from 2024.

“This milestone marks an important step in E3’s commercial process toward securing long-term offtake agreements and advancing our relationships with key players in the battery and critical minerals industry,” stated Chris Doornbos, chief executive officer of E3 Lithium.

Through its Direct Lithium Extraction process, E3 is now shipping 0.5 kilogram lots to prospective parties across the lithium battery industry, according to a statement from the Canadian cleantech.

This delivery of lithium carbonate to potential customers is part of a structured qualification process, explains Doornbos, who has spoken at length about the importance of critical minerals and connections between wealth and energy.

“Our ability to continually produce significant quantities of lithium carbonate from our demonstration facility highlights the size and sophistication of our operations,” the CEO remarked.

The Demonstration program is being conducted within E3’s flagship Clearwater Project to collect data and operational information to complete E3’s Front End Engineering and Design process as well as its Feasibility Study.

E3 has proposed a staged development plan with a capacity of 12,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate per year as the first stage of production, and expansion potential to up to 36,0000 tonnes of lithium carbonate per year.
