NorthX Opens 2026 Call for Innovation to Support Women in Climate Tech

February 5, 2026 by Newsdesk

NorthX has launched its 2026 Call for Innovation – Women in Climate Tech, committing up to $3 million in non-dilutive funding to support women-led ventures advancing high-impact climate solutions across Canada.

The funding call reflects NorthX’s broader mission to strengthen Canada’s climate innovation ecosystem by increasing the representation of women founders working on technologies critical to decarbonization and long-term economic resilience. While women-led climate ventures often demonstrate strong technical performance and commercial promise, they remain significantly underrepresented in investment pipelines—an imbalance NorthX says requires intentional, sustained action to address.

Through this initiative, NorthX will invest in multiple women-led projects tackling some of the toughest challenges in global decarbonization, with a focus on technologies capable of delivering meaningful emissions reductions and scalable real-world impact. Beyond capital, the program is designed to meet founders where they are, pairing funding with commercialization support to help move promising technologies from innovation to deployment.

To date, NorthX has committed $17 million, or 37 percent of its total funding, to women founders. That approach is already proving catalytic: women-founded companies supported by NorthX have collectively raised $69 million in follow-on investment, underscoring the economic and climate impact of targeted early support.

The 2026 Women in Climate Tech call spans the full climate value chain and is particularly well-suited to hard-tech and first-of-a-kind solutions that often face longer development timelines and higher barriers to commercialization. In addition to funding, selected ventures will benefit from expert technical review, credibility signaling through NorthX’s trusted network, and direct connections to investors, industry partners, and potential customers. Participants will also gain increased visibility through program announcements and NorthX-partnered events.

Applications for the 2026 Call for Innovation – Women in Climate Tech are open until March 13, 2026, at 5:00 PM PST.
