The Global Energy Show Canada 2026 awards recognized a strong group of Canadian companies and organizations advancing clean energy, emissions reduction, energy research, digital innovation, and industrial technology.
The annual awards event was hosted by Calgary’s Jenny Steele, an actress and producer. Winners were selected by a panel of 15 industry experts who followed a rigorous judging process.
Global Energy Show Canada returned to Calgary from June 9 to 11, bringing more than 30,000 attendees, over 500 exhibitors, and delegates from more than 100 countries to the BMO Centre.
Here’s a look at the Canadian companies and organizations that earned recognition this year:
Emerging Clean Technologies – Litus Inc.
Ghada Nafie, CEO and Co-Founder of Calgary’s Litus, accepted this hotly contested award for the company’s nanotechnology-enabled lithium separation platform. Litus targets lithium recovery from brines, industrial waters, and battery recycling streams, supporting more sustainable lithium supply chains for clean energy and battery production.
Innovation in Technologies: Equipment or Process Controls – CIMA+ Canada Inc.
Dawn Kuechle, a Team Leader at CIMA+ with its headquarters in Laval, Quebec, accepted the award for TEMPUS, a proprietary control system migration technology. TEMPUS enables full online replacement of aging control systems without plant shutdowns or signal disruption, reducing operational risk and making modernization more practical for facilities that operate continuously.
Disruptive Digital Innovator – Scovan
Oliver Kohlhammer, VP Commercial at Calgary’s Scovan, accepted the award for the company’s PadX Engineering Digitalization platform. The system automates drawing and document generation for modular well pad facilities, producing complete manufacturing packages in hours instead of days while improving quality control, traceability, and project standardization.
Excellence in Energy Research – Dr. Jithamala Caldera
Dr. Jithamala Caldera, Research Associate at the University of Calgary, was recognized for the Dis-Utility-Based Universal Disaster Severity Classification System. The framework helps the energy sector compare and communicate disaster severity across hazards such as wildfires, floods, pandemics, cyber disruptions, and infrastructure failures.
Powering the Future – Schneider Electric Canada
Melissa Pressnail, Chief of Staff at Schneider Electric Canada with its headquarters in Milton, Ontario, accepted the award for the EcoStruxure Microgrid Solution. The digitally enabled platform combines onsite renewable generation, energy storage, and intelligent controls to help facilities and communities improve resilience, reduce energy costs, and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Methane Impact Innovation – Tourmaline Oil Corp.
Eamonn Irvine, Technology and Innovation Engineer at Calgary’s Tourmaline, accepted the award for the Energy Technology Centre. The ETC provides lab and live operating environments for methane detection, quantification, and mitigation technologies, helping innovators test, refine, and commercialize solutions through the NGIF Accelerator framework.
Suzanne West Environmental Excellence – Kathairos Solutions
Jacqueline Peterson, Chief External Affairs Strategist at Calgary’s Kathairos Solutions, accepted the Suzanne West Environmental Excellence award. Kathairos helps oil and gas producers eliminate methane venting from pneumatic devices by using liquid nitrogen, replacing methane as instrument gas at remote well sites.
For this year’s winners, the recognition provides a credibility boost while also opening doors to new business opportunities, greater visibility, and potential funding.
The Global Energy Show Canada awards continue to be an important platform for Canadian companies and organizations showcasing technologies that can help modernize the energy sector.
