Turning climate technology breakthroughs into commercial projects will take centre stage at Converge 2026, returning to the Vancouver Convention Centre on November 25.
Hosted by NorthX, the gathering will bring together founders, investors, policymakers, researchers, and industry partners to examine the financing and policy decisions shaping Canada’s climate hard tech sector. This year’s event also marks NorthX’s fifth anniversary as a dedicated funder of Canadian climate hard tech.
Under the theme “What We’ve Built. What Comes Next.”, the program will explore how companies move from early development to customers, commercial facilities, and broader deployment.
For CleanEnergy.ca readers, a key session will examine one of the sector’s persistent challenges: financing the journey from an initial investment to a first plant.
The afternoon discussion will bring together venture investors and project finance specialists to explore how different funding sources support companies through long development cycles and capital-intensive milestones. Topics include what investors need to see before backing a first facility, how financing terms evolve, and where government funding and strategic partners fit into the mix.
Other scheduled sessions will address securing first contracts, scaling companies, and the conditions needed to build more climate hard tech in Canada. The program will also offer perspectives on investment trends and lessons from founders who have scaled breakthrough technologies. The morning keynote speaker has yet to be announced.
The formal program begins at 10 a.m., with a networking reception scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Registration and event details are available online.
