Foresight Canada announced this week that it is officially accepting applications for the sixth edition of the Foresight 50, an annual spotlight on Canada’s most investment-ready cleantech ventures.
Founded in 2013, Foresight Canada advances clean technology innovation nationwide through various tactics such as the 50.
“Cleantech is no longer a niche sector,” explains Foresight Canada chief executive officer David Sanguinetti. “It is the bedrock of our future economy and industrial strategy.”
As cleantech contributes $70 billion to the country’s gross domestic product, according to data from Statistics Canada, the Foresight 50 exists to bridge a gap between transformative innovation and strategic ecosystem support.
Since inception in 2021, the Foresight 50 has watched past honourees go on to raise more than $3B in capital.
“The 2026 Foresight 50 is about more than just visibility,” says Sanguinetti. “It’s about providing the tactical capital pathways and investor access needed to scale Canadian innovation into global market leadership.”
Companies selected for the Foresight 50 gain access to aligned networking and investor matchmaking opportunities, enhanced market recognition and credibility, and ongoing growth support via acceleration programs and executive services, according to the organization.
This includes the Cleantech Export Venture Program, which is four weeks of fast-track curriculum designed to equip startups with knowledge and tools to identify and enter new markets.
The Foresight 50 is judged by an independent group of over 30 cleantech investors, which this year includes Dania Moazzam of RBCx, Jay Patel of Toyota Ventures, Ludovic Copere of Sony Innovation Fund, Emily Porta of Maple Leaf Angels, and Olivia Hornby of Spring Capital.
Applications are open until June 30. Winners will be announced at an event in Vancouver in November. Readers can check out last year’s list here.
Foresight also recently launched an employer-focused Upskilling Program, developed in partnership with employers and industry sponsors, which is designed to help Canadian organizations equip their teams with the skills needed for a cleaner economy.
